LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--London based cybersecurity company Garrison has today announced the appointment of cybersecurity executive and former Group Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of Standard Chartered, Cheri McGuire, to its advisory board.
In this role, Ms. McGuire will draw on her deep experience in cyber risk management across government and commercial organisations to help guide Garrison’s strategy in both sectors.
Ms. McGuire is a cyber security risk and advisory leader with more than 30 years in strategy, policy, and operations, and spanning the financial, technology, consulting and government sectors. She served as global Group CISO and Managing Director for Standard Chartered PLC in London from June 2016 to December 2019, and has held senior roles in the United States with Microsoft, Symantec, US Department of Homeland Security and Booz Allen Hamilton. Currently she serves as a non‐resident scholar and advisory board member to the FinCyber Programme at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a global think tank, and as a member of the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s International Cyber Security Advisory Panel. In addition to Garrison, she serves on the board of directors and advisory boards for several other firms.
About her latest appointment, Ms. McGuire said: “Given Garrison’s unique position in bringing high assurance, government-grade security technology to commercial organisations around the globe, I’m delighted to join the Garrison team as an advisor. I look forward to working with them to build on their already strong strategic and market presence and to furthering their position as a trusted provider of high efficacy cybersecurity risk management technology.”
David Garfield, CEO of Garrison, said: “We are thrilled to have Cheri support us with strategic advice as Garrison continues to expand internationally across both commercial and government markets. As the cybersecurity needs of these two sectors continue to converge, we look forward to working with Cheri to ensure we are offering the highest efficacy solution to our customers.”
Garrison was founded in 2014 by David Garfield and Henry Harrison, who set out to change our approach to cyber security. With a wealth of experience from previous cyber businesses, they designed a product that eradicates the largest cyber risk to organisations and governments worldwide, that of web-borne threats such as malware, phishing attacks and drive-by downloads. The company is backed by investors including Dawn Capital, IP Group, NM Capital and BGF, and has customers across nine countries, from governments (including the UK government) to commercial global enterprise customers.
Garrison is pioneering a new technological paradigm in the field of cyber security – a system architecture known as hardsec that has emerged from security research within the UK National Security sector. Instead of CPUs, hardsec uses lower-complexity (non-Turing-machine) digital logic to implement security, avoiding software’s weak point. By making use of FPGA silicon, hardsec can deliver rock hard security while maintaining the flexibility to address real-world cyber security problems in a cost-effective manner.
