Honigman Welcomes Intellectual Property Partner as Firm Establishes New Washington D.C. Office

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Honigman LLP announced that veteran intellectual property strategist Harold Fox, Ph.D. is joining as managing partner of the law firm’s new Washington, D.C. office as the firm seeks to expand its presence in the nation’s capital. Internationally recognized, Fox specializes in tactical intellectual property counseling and strategic patent advice in multiple fields: chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, physics, chemical engineering, and medical devices.

“While Honigman attorneys have served myriad D.C. clients over the years, establishing a physical presence is the first significant step toward executing our long-term strategic plan to expand in the D.C. market,” said David Foltyn, Chair and CEO of Honigman. “ As a leading force in intellectual property law in the D.C. area, Harold is the ideal person to lead the way as we seek to grow more of the firm’s core practices in this area by attracting additional top attorneys and expanding our offerings to new and current clients.”

Fox has extensive experience representing clients at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in post grant proceedings, as well as the U.S. International Trade Commission and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His patent and trademark work has been noticed worldwide with several mentions in IAM Patent 1000, Legal 500, Chambers USA, and his distinction as a “top 50 under 45” in IP Law and Business. His dedication to the clients he serves has helped him build a successful strategic patent practice.

Fox joins Honigman from Steptoe & Johnson LLP, having devoted more than 15 years to the firm’s technology, internet and media practice, and heading their Intellectual Property Group for many years. Most recently, he led their U.S. Patent and Trademark Office practice.

Fox earned his J.D. from Boston University and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He also received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from MIT.

Honigman is ranked by the BTI Consulting Group as among the country’s top 10 law firms for patent work, is among the top five percent of law firms for IP litigation and, earlier this year, was awarded Managing IP's 2020 “United States Firm to Watch,” a national award that recognizes remarkable achievements of IP practitioners.
