Retired Lt. General Anthony Ierardi Joins Sarcos Robotics Strategic Advisory Board

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sarcos Robotics, a global leader in the production of robots that augment humans to enhance productivity and safety, including full-body, powered exoskeletons for industrial and military applications, and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sarcos Defense, today announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Anthony “Tony” Ierardi (Ret.) to the Sarcos Strategic Advisory Board. Ierardi currently leads Strategic Partner Engagement for Rebellion Defense, a Washington D.C.-based defense software products company, and serves as an Adjunct Senior Fellow in the Defense Program at the Center for a New American Security.

Lt. Gen. Ierardi served in the U.S. military for more than 37 years. Before his retirement, Lt. Gen. Ierardi was the Joint Staff’s J-8 Director, where he led Joint Chiefs of Staff requirements oversight, budgets, military net assessments, and formulation of options for the Defense Department’s annual budget and long-range investment programs. Prior to his role at the J-8, Ierardi served as the Deputy Chief of Staff G-8 of the United States Army and commanded the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas. Earlier in his career, he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the Deputy Commander for Programs, Combined Security Transition Command in Kabul, Afghanistan, and with the Second Armored Cavalry Regiment in Operation Desert Storm. Lt. Gen. Ierardi holds a bachelor’s degree in Business from Washington and Lee University and master’s degrees from Georgetown University and the Naval War College.

“I am delighted to welcome Tony to our advisory board,” said Ben Wolff, chairman and chief executive officer, Sarcos Robotics. “Tony’s experience at the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Army enterprise-level gives him unique insights into current and future force requirements, which will assist us to better leverage our ongoing development of dual-use capabilities and private funding to deliver solutions to the defense community that save lives, prevent injuries and serve as force multipliers.”

“We are clearly at an inflection point in the way our nation invests in warfighter readiness,” said Lt. Gen. Ierardi. “We must avoid a disconnect between the vital steps we need to take to ensure our nation’s security and maintain a decisive advantage over our near-peer competitors and the required funding to be more effective. I am excited about the opportunity to work with Sarcos because I fundamentally believe that working with entrepreneurial, nimble, and innovative companies to leverage dual-use technologies developed through a combination of private and public funding is an important way to achieve that objective in the face of budget limitations and the investments being made by our near-peer competitors and state-owned entities in robotics and artificial intelligence.”
