Missouri American Water Announces 2020 Firefighter Grant Program

JOPLIN, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Missouri American Water is accepting applications for its 2020 Firefighter Grant Program. Through this program, the company provides funding to fire and emergency organizations in its service areas. More than 30 grants were awarded in 2019.

“The Firefighter Grant Program is an opportunity for us to strengthen the partnerships we have with these local heroes and support the important work they do every day,” said Debbie Dewey, president of Missouri American Water. “Now more than ever this financial assistance is critical as local departments throughout the state continue to face challenges created by the pandemic.”

The maximum grant amount is $1,200. Fire departments and districts are eligible for one grant per calendar year. Only uniformed professional and volunteer fire departments serving Missouri American Water’s service territories are eligible to receive funding. Grants will be considered to cover the costs associated with the following:

  • Personal protective equipment
  • Communications equipment
  • Firefighting tools
  • Water-handling equipment
  • Training and related activities/materials
  • Needs related to COVID-19
