Veteran Music Executive Steve Clark Joins Round Hill Music as Global Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Round Hill Music Royalty Partners (“Round Hill Music”), a private equity firm dedicated to investing in music copyrights and one of the world’s leading independent, full-service, creative music companies with a core focus on music publishing, today announced veteran music industry executive Steve Clark as Global Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Clark previously served as Executive Vice President of Global Operations at Warner Chappell Music, where he worked for nearly two decades.

In this new role, Mr. Clark will be based in London where he will be responsible for all operations and IT. He will report directly to Round Hill Music’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Josh Gruss.

Mr. Clark is a highly experienced music executive with extensive industry experience and a track record of working collaboratively with songwriters and artists and adding substantial value to businesses. In his role at Warner Chappell Music, Mr. Clark led the development and rollout of the company's global contracts, copyright and royalty system, which allows songwriters and composers to view statements and other metrics online and via mobile applications. His earlier responsibilities extended to copyright and royalty administration across Europe.

Josh Gruss, Founder and CEO of Round Hill Music said, “Steve joining Round Hill Music is a major coup for our company as he brings with him an unparalleled level of industry insight and expertise. His experience in the global music publishing sector will be invaluable to us as we push forward with our ambitious plans for growth while continuing to position Round Hill Music as one of the world’s leading independent music companies.”

“After twenty great years at Warner Chappell Music I was ready for a new challenge and having watched the rise of Round Hill Music over recent times I was intrigued and impressed with what they had managed to achieve in a relatively short space of time. Meeting Josh and hearing the passionate way he spoke about his ambitious plans for the company was enough to convince me to join the team. Round Hill Music has developed a tremendous platform and I am excited to be joining the firm at this exciting time in its evolution. I look forward to working alongside Josh and his talented team to help the company move forward and continue to grow as a leader in this space,” said Mr. Clark.

Mr. Clark is an accomplished musician as well. Upon graduating from Liverpool University in 1987 with a music degree, he joined sheet music specialists International Music Publications Ltd (“IMP”) as a music editor. Many of his published arrangements are still in print today. During his ten-year tenure at IMP, Steve rose through the ranks from Assistant Editor to Head of Publishing and Copyright. Mr. Clark has also served on many high-profile music industry committees, including the UK boards of MPA, the ICMP and IMPA. In December 2019, he was awarded the MPA's ‘Tony Pool Award’ for his outstanding contribution to administration within the music industry.
