AM Best to Participate in Series of Re/Insurance Lounge Panel Discussions

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AM Best will be participating in several virtual panel sessions as part of the Re/Insurance Lounge, a forum for insurance- and reinsurance-related discussions, the first of which will be held Aug. 20, 2020.

Stefan Holzberger, chief rating officer at AM Best, will join a panel session, titled, “Hard Market and How Some Companies Have Raised Money to Leverage It.” The panel will discuss rate hikes in many lines of insurance business as a result of catastrophe losses in previous years and the COVID-19 pandemic, and how many (re)insurers are raising money in anticipation of cashing in on a hard market. How these companies may use this capital against a backdrop of shareholder expectations and the lessons of previous hard markets will be explored. As AM Best’s Chief Rating Officer, Holzberger is responsible for the rating agency’s global ratings coverage. The two-hour session also will feature Stephen Catlin, chief executive officer, Convex, and John Warwick, managing director and partner, ILS Capital Management, and take place Aug. 20 at 9:00 a.m. (EDT) (2 p.m. BST).
