Ameriprise Financial Named a “Best Place to Work” on the Disability Equality Index®

Company Recognized for Commitment to Creating an Accessible and Inclusive Workplace

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ameriprise Financial (NYSE: AMP) has been named among the country’s “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” by the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN. The company scored 90 percent on the Disability Equality Index® (DEI), which is widely regarded as the most comprehensive benchmark for measuring disability inclusion in U.S. workplaces.

“At Ameriprise, we strive to be a place where people of all abilities are welcomed, valued and able to access opportunities to excel in their careers,” said Kelli Hunter Petruzillo, executive vice president of human resources at Ameriprise. “The DEI is an important benchmark of our work, and we’re pleased to join with other companies that are committed to supporting a more inclusive and compassionate society.”

Ameriprise has longstanding programs in place to support individuals of all abilities. The company dedicates a portion of its annual philanthropic grants and volunteer programs to nonprofits that support children and adults in the disabled community. In addition, the firm’s culture and leadership, enterprise-wide benefits and accessibility programs, recruitment practices, and supplier diversity strategy were all evaluated as part of the DEI survey. Ameriprise also sponsors a vibrant, employee-led business resource network, STRIVE, which offers support for employees with seen and unseen disabilities, and builds awareness through education and advocacy of people of all abilities.

“The best way to attract, retain and grow talent with disabilities is to create an accessible, inclusive workplace,” said Jill Houghton, President & CEO, Disability:IN. “This year’s top scoring Disability Equality Index companies are demonstrating their commitment to many of the numerous leading disability inclusion practices featured in the DEI, recognizing that there’s still room for improvement. We are proud to have developed strong partnerships with corporate allies who are committed to advancing disability inclusion and equality across their businesses in the United States and around the world.”

“The Disability Equality Index top scoring companies represent those businesses that have invested in accessibility and inclusion across their enterprise,” added Maria Town, President and CEO of AAPD. “As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the ADA, it is wonderful to see the progress made by these companies, and we hope to see continued progress and support for the DEI over the next 30 years.”

In addition to being added to the Disability Equality Index in 2020, Ameriprise is included in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index and three FTSE4Good indices. Ameriprise is also recognized as a Military Friendly® Employer by VIQTORY and 2020 “Best Place to Work” by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
