Virgin Galactic Flight Test Program Update: SpaceShipTwo Preparing for Second Test Flight from New Mexico

Test flight Window Opens Today, June 25, 2020

Flight Results to be Released with Media Broll Package Post-Market Close

LAS CRUCES, N.M.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Virgin Galactic Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SPCE) (“Virgin Galactic” or “the Company”), a vertically integrated aerospace company, is preparing for the second glide flight of SpaceShip Two, set to launch from Spaceport America in New Mexico.

The window for this test flight opens today, Thursday, 25 June 2020. Currently, weather appears favourable through the end of the week.

Virgin Galactic will provide an update on the results of this glide flight with an additional press release and media broll package post-market close on the day of flight. The company will not provide social media updates during the flight.

Virgin Galactic’s first test flight from New Mexico on 1 May 2020 was a great milestone for the team, as this marked the first free flight for VSS Unity from New Mexico. This flight tested all components required to fly the carrier aircraft and spaceship in glide configuration, and included pilot proficiency training and testing of ground operations.

This glide flight test will be a high-speed glide enabling the team to evaluate systems and vehicle performance in advance of rocket-powered space flights from the company’s new operating base in New Mexico. The team will continue to check vehicle systems and operational procedures at Spaceport America, pilot proficiency training and will test new glide flight test points.

The pilots for this flight will be Mark ‘Forger’ Stucky and Michael ‘Sooch’ Masucci flying VSS Unity. Both pilots are commercial astronauts, having each previously flown Unity into space on different flights. Nicola Pecile and CJ Sturckow will be flying VMS Eve.

The company remains committed to operating safely and diligently during the Covid-19 pandemic, with required safety protocols in place.
