Sigma Announces 100-400mm Lens for Sony E and L-Mount Mirrorless Cameras; Available at B&H Photo

Photography News: Sigma has introduced its first super-telephoto lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras with the 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary Lens

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--B&H is excited to announce Sigma’s latest zoom for full-frame mirrorless cameras, the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary lens available for Sony E and Leica L-mount cameras. The new super-telephoto lens is the first of its kind for L-mount cameras, a system shared among Sigma, Leica, and Panasonic. While packing the exacting optical performance expected of Sigma lenses, it remains surprisingly compact and lightweight, a hallmark of the Contemporary lens series.

The 100-400mm lens consists of 22 elements in 16 groups, including one FLD and four SLD elements to control chromatic aberrations and color fringing. Optical image stabilization compensates for up to four stops of shake and can work in tandem with in-camera stabilization systems so you can attain sharp images when shooting on its long end handheld.

The new lens incorporates a stepping motor for quick and quiet autofocusing. A programmable AFL button allows you to control features from the lens itself and a focus limiter switch helps achieve focus faster and more accurately. The 100-400mm features a nine-bladed aperture for smooth bokeh and minimum focusing distances of 3.6' (at 100mm) and 5.2' (at 400mm).

It is compatible with the optional TS-111 Tripod Socket for extra stability when shooting with a tripod or monopod. Also, Sigma has announced two teleconverters for the L-Mount: the TC-1411 (1.4x) and TC-2011 (2x), which effectively extend the range of the new lens to 140-560mm f/7-9 and 200-800mm f/10-12.6, respectively, while retaining camera communication and functionality. Finally, Sigma has also released the UD-11 USB Dock for L-Mount, so you can keep your lenses updated with the latest firmware and fine-tune focusing.
