PORT COQUITLAM, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CUPE 498, the union representing workers at the City of Port Coquitlam, is extremely disappointed to learn of the arbitrator’s ruling in the matter of the several City employees terminated in the summer of 2018.
The decision has reinstated one senior member with full back pay; one member will be receiving damages for breach of privacy issues. The other members involved will not be returning to work with the City.
Since this issue arose, the Union stood by its members and provided the necessary resources to ensure that those involved received fair consideration and that their rights were respected. This has been an extremely challenging time for the grievors and our members, and it’s unfortunate that some may never recover from this ordeal and the decisions rendered.
Union members hope, that with this matter now resolved, we can turn our full attention to continue to deliver the best possible public services to the citizens of Port Coquitlam.
