Leading Pharmaceutical Company Selects Zayo for Global Network

Pharmaceutical sector expands and upgrades infrastructure to accommodate big data

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A leading global pharmaceutical company has selected Zayo Group Holdings for a high-capacity network that will connect the company’s key facilities in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Zayo’s solution leverages its extensive fiber network and its Global Reach strategic partnerships to create a seamless multinational network.

The diverse wavelength solution will provide core network infrastructure and upgraded capacity to support the company’s data analytics, research collaboration and product innovation. The addition of IP transit and DIA facilitates full, diverse internet connectivity. The solution also includes zColo data center space.

The transaction illustrates trends in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector that are driving a growing need for high performance infrastructure. Research and collaboration, analytics and predictive modeling and clinical trials are generating large volumes of data. In areas like genomics, the acquisition, analysis and storage of massive data sets require solutions with unprecedented capacity. In today’s COVID-19 environment, intra- and inter-company R&D is becoming even more collaborative to advance expedited development of treatments and vaccines.

As a provider to more than 200 pharmaceutical and biotech companies, Zayo is leveraging its fiber network assets and expertise to meet the rapidly evolving needs of this industry. In addition to dedicated, secure fiber and colocation solutions, some companies are moving non-sensitive data and workloads to the public cloud, which requires robust cloud connectivity solutions such as Zayo’s CloudLink.

“Our pharmaceutical customers are re-architecting their networks so they can fully leverage big data, shorten drug development timelines and improve patient outcomes,” said Derek Gillespie, chief revenue officer at Zayo. “Our extensive network provides the foundation for the capacity and performance improvements they need.”
