Zebra Technologies Awards Current and Future Nurses for Challenging the Status Quo

Scholarships offered for the best ideas related to using healthcare technology to improve patient care

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), an innovator at the edge of the enterprise with solutions and partners that enable businesses to gain a performance edge, is celebrating the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife by encouraging nurses and nursing students globally to share their ideas on how to use technology to provide the right patient care at the right time.

“Now is the time to challenge the status quo in healthcare,” said Chris Sullivan, Global Healthcare Practice Lead for Zebra Technologies. “With nurses on the front line of patient care, they are in an ideal position to offer ideas on how changes in healthcare technology can improve the patient experience. With our healthcare systems and clinicians stretched beyond their limits, this is the time to think differently and to make an impact through safer, more effective patient care.”

Nurses and nursing students globally are invited to submit their ideas on how technology can help solve some of today’s biggest healthcare challenges. Submissions are encouraged in one of two formats – video (maximum two minutes) and written essay (maximum 500 words) – in which entrants describe a current healthcare need along with an idea of how technology can help improve it.

Five winning submissions will be selected based on innovative approach and applicability in today’s healthcare environment. Each of the five winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship to be used for certification, continuing education, college loans or nursing school. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, June 30, 2020, and the winners will be announced in August 2020.

“From locating equipment more easily in the hospital to new efficiencies that free up time for nurses to spend more time at the patient bedside, no idea is too big or too small,” added Sullivan. “We thank today’s front-line heroes – along with those in training – for all they are doing to keep us safe, and we look forward to their ideas to make the healthcare industry even more safe, efficient and effective in the future.”
