LOUD: LGBTQ+ Community Outraged at Murders of Trans Women and a Trans Man in Puerto Rico

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--“Enough is enough! The LGBTQ + community is not only grieving; we are also outraged, and demand justice for the three Trans women murdered and one Trans man murdered in just two months in Puerto Rico," said Edwin Millán, President of LOUD, a Los Angeles-based group that advocates for human rights in general, including members of the LGBTQ+ community with a special focus on Latinx populations.

As a result of the discovery of two calcined Trans women found in a car on a highway in Puerto Rico near the Municipality of Humacao, organizations in Puerto Rico and in the United States have joined together to demand justice for the four victims of transphobic hate, which is on the rise in Puerto Rico (news article links: “Primera Hora” and “New York Times”).

In none of the four cases have the investigations yielded results, which is why leaders of the LGBTQ+ community demand that the authorities intensify their investigations.

The national leadership of LOUD has determined to join other advocacy groups until these transphobic crimes cease and those guilty of these crimes are brought to justice.
