#TheGreatAmericanTakeout Offers Free Takeout for a Year

Campaign Encourages Americans to Support Struggling Restaurants and Share Their Takeout Meals on Social Media for a Chance to Win $5,000

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Great American Takeout returns for a third course tomorrow with a sweet treat: a chance to win a year of free takeout!

The coronavirus pandemic has had a catastrophic impact on the restaurant industry, which employs more than 15 million Americans. The Great American Takeout, now in its third weekly installment, aims to aid the struggling restaurant community by encouraging Americans to support the restaurants they love by ordering pick-up or delivery meals.

As an added incentive, Shift4 Payments will give $5,000 to be used at restaurants to one lucky diner who shares a photo of their takeout meal on social media tomorrow.

To enter for a chance to win:

  • Order takeout or delivery on Tuesday, April 7
  • Post a photo on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtags #TheGreatAmericanTakeout and #Shift4Sweepstakes
  • Tag @TheGATakeout (on Twitter) or @thegreatamericantakeout (on Instagram)

Full sweepstakes terms and conditions are available here.

Additionally, Shift4 Payments and Tyson Foodservice will donate to the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund (RERF.US) based on social media posts supporting #TheGreatAmericanTakeout on April 7. For every social post tagged with #TheGreatAmericanTakeout, Tyson Foodservice will make a $5 donation, up to $25,000, and Shift4 Payments will make a $1 donation, up to $10,000, to the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund. The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation created RERF.US to support U.S. restaurant workers financially impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, and to provide aid to restaurant employees nationwide.

“As COVID-19 continues to impact every aspect of our day-to-day lives, restaurants are being hit especially hard,” said Nate Hirshberg, Vice President of Marketing for Shift4 Payments. “Through our Shift4 Cares initiative, we’ve committed to raising over $200 million for our restaurant customers. By partnering with The Great American Takeout, we hope to help restaurants of all sizes weather this storm.”

“We are proud to support restaurant operators by participating in #TheGreatAmericanTakeout to raise money for the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund,” said Johnny Hughes, SVP Tyson Foodservice Sales. “Each day we strive to develop unique and creative ways to support operators, and we commit to being by their side throughout this journey.”

The Great American Takeout is supported by a coalition of more than 400 restaurants nationwide, as well as partners like The Coca-Cola Company, PepsiCo, Veggie Grill, Ventura Foods, and PrizeLogic. The initiative has generated widespread buzz, reaching more than 117 million people nationwide. And, according to Lieberman Inc. / FRC Research New York, 35% of the total U.S. population is aware of The Great American Takeout and the program has raised $175,000 to date for charitable organizations supporting restaurant workers.
