Royell Doubles Down on Subscriber Insights Powered by a Fiber Network with Calix

Visionary WISP is transforming its network and business leveraging EDGE Insights to redefine the subscriber experience

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX) today announced that wireless internet service provider (WISP) Royell Communications is future proofing its network with fiber and its business with new subscriber insights by partnering with Calix. The regional WISP is upgrading its network speeds up to 10x over existing speeds with fiber to the home (FTTH) to address the growing demands of their subscribers. In addition, Royell is enhancing their subscriber experience with new, actionable data through EDGE Insights via Calix Cloud®. With this shared vision of a FTTH network powering fully managed subscriber experiences, Royell is laying the foundation to transform the subscriber edge into their Revenue EDGE.

“We are seeing an ever growing number of rural fiber deployments stemming from the increased availability of government funding, so if we don’t build fiber to serve our subscribers, someone else will,” said Joe Royer, president for Royell Communications. “We evaluated a significant number of solution providers, but based on our research and observations of other successful Calix customers, the decision was clear. Calix solutions are unmatched in capability, quality, and stability, enabling us to address our subscribers’ needs today and quickly scale to meet their demands in the future. We share the vision of a quality broadband experience with managed Wi-Fi and proactive support services through Calix Support Cloud (CSC). This lays the foundation for us to upgrade to the ultimate subscriber experience with the Wi-Fi 6 enabled EDGE Systems.”

Serving subscribers across sparsely populated southwestern Illinois, Royell Communications has built its business on a commitment to the communities it serves. The FTTH migration is a one time network upgrade that will last for decades, dramatically reducing future operating expenses and positioning them as a world class service provider and the clear choice for their community. The rural WISP’s expansive footprint further magnifies the benefits of this network upgrade. Starting with CSC, the Royell support team is armed with real-time subscriber insights via a powerful SaaS analytics platform to resolve issues quickly and remotely. As a result of these insights, CSPs have already seen a 30 percent reduction in unnecessary truck rolls and a 35 percent reduction in the number of support calls.

“Across the country, WISPs are facing unprecedented pressure from both competitors and subscribers,” said Skip Hirvela, vice president of sales for Calix. “Royell needs to secure its footprint, and deploying fiber is the ideal strategy for accomplishing that goal. In addition, Royell is getting out in front of the competition with their plans to deliver the ultimate subscriber experience. We are excited to partner with an innovator like Royell and look forward to collaborating with them as they continue their evolution and delight their subscribers.”
