“Our March 10th Open House provides an excellent opportunity for the community to tour the facilities, meet our staff, enjoy some food and beverages and join us as we celebrate our expanded services,” said Patricia D. Bermúdez, MBA, Senior Regional Director, Western Region for AHF.

AHF Wellness Centers provide access to the community for confidential and free testing for HIV and STDs including Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis. The clinic also offers free treatment for STDs as well as, Linkage to HIV Primary Care and Partner Notification Services.

In 2017 – 2018, Los Angeles County, of which the City of Long Beach is incorporated, has seen a 5% rise in Chlamydia and Gonorrhea cases; and a 20% rise in Syphilis infections.

“Routine screening for HIV and STDs is important for anyone who is sexually active,” said Whitney Engeran-Cordova, Senior Director of AHF’s Public Health Division. “We routinely see patients at the Wellness Center that were unaware that they had an STD. Because STDs often times go unnoticed, can result in serious health complications if left untreated, routine screenings provide an important mechanism to protect your health, as well as that of your partners.”

AHF operates 24 Wellness Centers in nine states, including Florida, California, Illinois, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington and the District of Columbia. For more information about Wellness Center services and locations, please visit www.freestdcheck.org.
