Home Communications embraces the AXOS Intelligent Access EDGE to simplify its network architecture and transform its operations

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX) today announced that Home Communications, Inc. (HCI) is deploying a future proof fiber network powered by the Intelligent Access EDGE solution and AXOS®. HCI is delivering triple play services faster and more cost effectively on the E7-2 Intelligent Modular System and leveraging the automation and intelligence of the AXOS platform to streamline back office functions and accelerate time to deployment. With AXOS, communications service providers (CSPs) have reduced OSS/BSS integration times by as much as 80 percent. AXOS will also provide HCI with the flexibility to deploy everyPON—GPON, 10G EPON, XGS-PON, and NG-PON2—to meet future requirements. HCI has partnered with Calix Professional Services to accelerate network deployment and subscriber turn up. The Calix services team has helped CSPs reduce network transformation and subscriber turn up times by as much as 75 percent.

HCI is collapsing multiple network functions into the AXOS E7-2 Intelligent Modular System and replacing three separate network elements with one system. Home is also leveraging the AXOS SMx Connector to implement a common operational service model across the network and the AXOS Diagnostics Toolbox to isolate and address issues remotely. The complete AXOS solution enables HCI to reduce costly truck rolls and streamline operations.

“Calix was an easy choice since our shared network vision is exactly what we need to maximize the impact our services can offer,” said Richard Baldwin, CEO and general manager for Home Communications. “Deploying GPON makes the most sense for us, and AXOS not only is the most efficient solution but also gives us a clear upgrade path as we grow our network. Furthermore, it enables us to collapse multiple functions and eliminate the need for separate network elements. We look forward to continuing this partnership with Calix as we expand our services further into our subscribers’ homes and anticipate their changing needs.”

Home Communications, Inc. is an 87-year-old, family-owned business that has built deep relationships with its subscribers across rural Kansas. HCI provides fast, reliable communications services. To ensure the success of its network transformation, HCI is partnering with Calix and leveraging Deployment Services to accelerate its time to install and turn up new network services. Home is also leveraging its new network to deliver managed Wi-Fi via Calix Support Cloud to ensure an exceptional subscriber experience and reduce support costs.

“HCI is a forward-thinking CSP that is positioned to deploy and operate a next generation network that will ensure its communities’ long term success,” said Skip Hirvela, vice president of sales for Calix. “They are exactly the kind of visionary customer we work best with, and this network transformation demonstrates their willingness to be aggressive in providing their subscribers with the best experience possible. As we continue to grow this partnership, we look forward to building on this AXOS foundation to deliver the advanced services HCI subscribers demand—both today and in the future.”
