Authored and translated by physicians and other healthcare professionals who have developed Concern America’s Health Promoter Practitioner model, How to Teach Health is a book designed to help health educators empower local communities in isolated and underserved regions to provide their own medical services. Concern America’s groundbreaking Health Promoter Practitioner model has been recognized and honored by the WHO, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, and Buckminster Fuller Institute.

The newly-translated manual, published by Hesperian, gives the layout for Concern America’s 30-year field-tested approach to educating community members with little formal education to become primary health care providers who diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions and perform basic surgeries.

Thanks to Concern America’s training efforts, hundreds of thousands of people in isolated communities now have primary healthcare services in their own villages.

Globally, Concern America created the infrastructure for a significant expansion of its model through the completion of a training manual series, originally published in Spanish in 2016. The original series, ‘Cómo Enseñar Sobre La Salud,’ is also available through Hesperian and includes 18 teacher guides and corresponding student manuals, enabling any organization or institution to implement Concern America’s healthcare model in any locale.

The newly published English language version, How to Teach Health, provides a practical overview of the health education basics most needed in the field and by offering this content in English, will further expand the reach of its educational and life saving contents.
