CUPE to Meet With Boeing Regarding 737 Safety

OTTAWA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The unions representing flight attendants at Air Canada, Sunwing and WestJet continue their joint scrutiny of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft as it relates to the airplane’s return to service.

On Thursday February 13, 2020, CUPE representatives will visit Renton, WA at the Boeing 737 Max final production facilities in Renton, WA. The union leaders will be present to scrutinize, question and remain active in all details relevant to any possible return to service of this aircraft type within our respective systems.

CUPE has previously called on Boeing to engage with unions in details and data related to the B737 Max aircraft’s possible return to service in Canada’s skies. Our flight attendant members and the travelling public deserve to be consulted and questioned independently of our Employers’ management.

The Airline Division of CUPE, representing more than 15,000 flight attendants in Canada maintains its call-to-action for Transport Canada to involve CUPE in their return-to-service certification for the Boeing 737 Max aircraft.
