Healthgrades Announces 2020 America's Best Hospitals™

Recipients Demonstrate Superior Outcomes and Commitment to Hospital Quality

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems, announced today the Healthgrades America’s Best Hospitals™. The recipients of the America’s 50, 100 and 250 Best Hospitals Awards™ — which represent the top 1, 2 and 5 percent of hospitals in the nation, respectively — demonstrate superior performance for the most common procedures and conditions year-after-year.

“Sustaining a high level of care is challenging and requires a hospital-wide commitment and a ‘patient-first’ culture. We applaud these elite hospitals on being recognized as the best in the nation,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “With increasing awareness on the importance of hospital quality, this information is a vital resource for consumers when it comes to selecting a hospital for their specific care needs.”

Healthgrades America’s Best Hospitals Awards analyzed the performance of nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide across 32 conditions and procedures, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, respiratory failure, sepsis and stroke. Overall, patients treated in hospitals named as America’s Best Hospitals™ have, on average, a 26.6 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive this award. If all hospitals, as a group, performed similarly to America’s Best Hospitals, 161,930 lives could potentially have been saved*.

As hospital quality remains top of mind, consumers have a choice when it comes to selecting and choosing where they receive care.
