Dorsey Adds Industry Leader Sativa Rasmussen to Its Cannabis Team

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP is pleased to announce that Sativa Rasmussen has joined the Firm’s Seattle office as a lawyer in the Cannabis Practice Group.

Ms. Rasmussen counsels cannabis businesses from startups to established market leaders on a wide range of corporate and regulatory needs. She advises clients on entity formation and structuring, financings, and acquiring and disposing of businesses. She has extensive experience tracking and navigating the complex and constantly evolving matrix of federal, state and local regulations related to both marijuana and hemp, and frequently speaks on these topics both domestically and internationally.

Her practice focuses on assisting cannabis businesses at every level of the supply chain to identify, understand, and comply with applicable regulatory requirements related to the cultivation, processing, manufacturing, and distribution of cannabis. This includes analyzing risks associated with transporting hemp interstate and internationally, understanding best practices for the manufacture, labeling, and distribution of hemp products, and counseling clients on developing policies and regulations from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Ms. Rasmussen serves as the Chair-Elect for the Cannabis Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association, which she founded in 2016.

She received a J.D. degree from Seattle University School of Law and has B.A. degrees from Washington State University in Criminal Justice and Political Science. Ms. Rasmussen joins Dorsey from Lane Powell.
