Essentia Reaches $286 Million in 2019 With Most Successful Year Yet

Fastest-growing brand in the top five premium water category

BOTHELL, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Essentia, the pioneer of ionized alkaline bottled water in the U.S., ended the final quarter of 2019 with $286 million in measured retail sales during the last 52 weeks1 – an increase of $90 million over 2018, representing 451 percent growth. These results highlighted Essentia as the biggest contributor to the premium water segment growth retaining its status as the #1 brand in both natural retailers and the high pH water category1.

“I’m excited to say that we were the biggest contributor to premium water category growth in 2019, with record-breaking sales,” said Neil Kimberley, Chief Strategy Officer at Essentia. “This has been a pivotal year for Essentia. It is the year high pH waters became mainstream; the segment is now worth more than $5001 million at retail, and Essentia has retained its place as the leader in the segment we created despite the entry of other brands, both new and well-established.”

Other 2019 milestones for the company included being named BevNET’s Best of 2019 “Brand of the Year” – a prestigious industry recognition – and a company-wide emphasis on its corporate social responsibility efforts including its new charter membership with The Recycling Partnership, which educates consumers on and promotes the benefits of recycling.

“It’s been another exciting year of growth for the company. These impressive numbers and milestones have not come without hard work and dedication from our amazing team,” said Ken Uptain, founder and CEO, Essentia. “We’re all about overachieving and that passion and commitment starts with us. 2019 was a true reflection of the strong foundation we’ve established across all aspects of our business and we are confident in the expansion opportunities we have already identified for 2020!”
