Director of Siri Data Science & Engineering for Apple Elected to LS&Co. Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Levi Strauss & Co. (NYSE: LEVI) announced today that it has elected Yael Garten to its board of directors, effective January 28, 2020. With more than a decade of experience in data science, Garten directs Siri data science and engineering at Apple.

Neal, chair of the board of Levi Strauss & Co. “Yael’s deep business acumen and expertise will help LS&Co. drive agility, productivity, and consumer experience as we design the future of our organization.”

In 2010, Garten founded gNetics Systems Inc., a consulting firm where she advised companies on how to transform data into insights. She also spent more than five years at LinkedIn, where she led a team focused on online experimentation and analyses to generate user experience insights to inform product strategy.

Garten received a Ph.D. in biomedical informatics from Stanford University School of Medicine, where she was a research scientist and text mining lead, and an MSc from Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. She remains active in education as an advisory board member for Northwestern University’s graduate program in analytics and is passionate about growing the number of women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
