AM Best Revises Kemper’s Outlook to Positive; Affirms Key Financial Strength Ratings

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kemper Corporation (NYSE: KMPR) announced today that AM Best has revised the outlooks for Kemper to positive from stable, and affirmed its key financial strength ratings, including the Financial Strength Rating (FSR) of A- (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Ratings (Long-Term ICR) of “a-” of its property/casualty subsidiaries and affiliated insurance companies.

AM Best also revised the outlooks to positive from stable and affirmed the FSR of A- (Excellent) and the Long-Term ICRs of “a-” of Kemper’s life and health subsidiaries. Additionally, AM Best revised the outlooks to positive from stable and affirmed the Long-Term ICR of “bbb-” and the Long-Term Issue Credit Ratings (Long-Term IR) of Kemper’s parent company.

The ratings agency cited Kemper’s balance sheet strength, which it categorized as very strong, adequate operating performance, a neutral business profile, and appropriate risk management.
