STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HARMAN, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., focused on connected technologies and solutions for automotive, consumer and enterprise markets, today announced HARMAN RCP, a remote patient monitoring solution that enables access to health data by connecting a wide array of medical and non-medical devices.
As the world becomes increasingly more reliant on data, HARMAN assists enterprises - including healthcare organizations - by building and managing IoT solutions and connected devices. RCP is HARMAN’s latest offering for healthcare which will further enable providers to digitize their services and processes to maintain pace with the market and patient demands.
RCP builds on Intel’s proven hardware and software platform for remote patient monitoring allowing healthcare providers to leverage data cohesively across multiple use cases - from patient care services and chronic disease management to Aging-with-Independence needs and identifying insights for patient health programs.
“We are committed to investing in and expanding our remote patient and elderly care offering. By powering our solution with Intel architecture, we can boost our capabilities and portfolio in this vital area of digital healthcare. RCP will transform the delivery of virtual care and improve patient outcomes driven by innovation," said Sumit Chauhan, SVP and General Manager - Digital Transformation Solutions, Connected Services, HARMAN.
“Health systems and their service providers need more scalable solutions to easily deploy remote care and telehealth across all disease states and living situations,” said Dave Ryan, General Manager of Health & Life Sciences at Intel. “We are delighted to be collaborating with HARMAN to advance technology platforms that will enable remote care to become the standard, allowing health systems to cost-effectively, securely, and conveniently care for people in their homes.”
HARMAN and Intel have signed a definitive agreement, wherein Intel has licensed the Remote Patient Monitoring Platform assets to HARMAN. HARMAN will continue to advance the platform including engineering and product development. RCP by HARMAN is powered by an Intel architecture-based gateway and HARMAN IP Assets, such as service delivery and device management platform, voice assistant and video platforms for the enterprise market. RCP follows Continua Design Guidelines for health data transfer to the cloud and brings enterprise-grade security and stability to the RCP edge framework.
According to a March 2019 report by Grand View Research Inc, the global remote patient monitoring system market is expected to reach USD 1.8 billion by 2026. The remote patient monitoring systems are expected to witness substantial growth in demand due to their capability to monitor various chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and cancer. As the healthcare industry transforms itself to improve the quality of care while reducing costs, HARMAN RCP will enable continuous care for patients and the elderly at home, while optimizing the cost with digital technologies.
Technology will continue to play an important role in digitizing and transforming healthcare, and with years of experience in this industry, HARMAN is committed to supporting its Remote Care Service Providers (RCSP) and healthcare industry partners in delivering improved user experiences, while ensuring security and privacy at every level.
