Women Leaders in Animal Health Industry Recognized with 2nd Annual Feather in Her Cap℠ Awards

ORLANDO, Fla.--()--Over 200 industry leaders attended the second annual Feather in Her Cap Awards dinner where women leaders in the animal health industry were recognized for their achievements and significant contributions to the industry and for mentoring and developing future women leaders. The gala dinner and award presentation were held yesterday in Orlando, Florida. Kristin Peck, Executive Vice President and Group President, U.S. Operations, Business Development and Strategy at Zoetis, was awarded the 2nd Annual Feather in Her Cap℠ Award. Jenny Trudeau, previously the Director of Large Animal and Equine National Accounts at Boehringer Ingelheim, was posthumously awarded a Feather in Her Cap Award, honoring her lifetime achievements.

To continue the tradition started last year, Kristin Peck received a gold feather brooch and a feathered hat; Jenny Trudeau’s daughter accepted these awards in honor of her mother.

Kristin Peck

Kristin was honored for her work in establishing Zoetis as a public company, breaking new ground for the animal health industry. The initial public offering (IPO) of Zoetis was the first IPO of a major animal health company and, at the time, the largest U.S. IPO after Facebook. Today, Kristin oversees Zoetis’s U.S. business, which generated revenue of $2.6 billion in 2017, while also leading the company’s corporate strategy and business development functions. With an intense focus on developing her colleagues, Kristin has launched leadership development programs at Zoetis that provide training, mentorships and involvement in strategic projects. In addition, Kristin has personally mentored, and continues to mentor, women at Zoetis and elsewhere within the animal health industry.

Jenny Trudeau

Jenny designed and led a team of specialized service reps, customized and delivered specialized service training, and as Director of Large Animal and Equine National Accounts at Boehringer Ingelheim, was responsible for cultivating over $100M in revenue. What stood out in Jenny’s nomination was the outpouring of testimonials from her women colleagues highlighting her mentoring and encouragement in their career paths.

The Feather in Her Cap Award

The award was established in 2017 by a group of volunteer women leaders in the animal health industry who formed the non-profit Feather in Her Cap Association, Inc. to honor women who have made outstanding contributions in animal health through scientific, industrial or commercial excellence and by demonstrating commitment to mentoring women in the animal health industry. This year’s awardees were selected from nominations representing an amazing group of candidates with diverse backgrounds. In addition to the two award winners, nominees included:

  • Alicia J. Browner, PhD – Prelude Dynamics Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer
  • Anne Chauder – CEO of Domes Pharma Group
  • Melinda Poole O’Banion, DVM – Executive Director, Clinical Dev’t and Regulatory Affairs, Kindred Biosciences, Inc.
  • Mary Patricia Thompson, CPA – Senior Vice President of Finance, Animal Health, Amerisourcebergen
  • Cathy Wood – Vice President, Quality Assurance, Aratana Therapeutics

The selection committee for the 2019 award was composed of the founding directors of the Feather in Her Cap Association. Serving on the selection committee precludes nomination for the award.
