Mary Cranston and Sohaib Abbasi Appointed to McAfee Board

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--McAfee, the device-to-cloud cybersecurity company, today announced that Mary Cranston, retired senior partner of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and board member of Visa Inc., and Sohaib Abbasi, former chairman and CEO of Informatica Corporation, have joined its Board. The announcement comes at a pivotal time for McAfee as it continues to grow its enterprise and consumer solutions.

Cranston has 15 years of experience as a board member of seven public companies. She currently holds board seats on the boards of Chemours Inc., MyoKardia, Boardspan and CSAA Insurance Group; and is a former board member of Juniper Networks. Cranston is a finance expert with experience in M&A, cybersecurity and internal investigations. And as CEO of Pillsbury LLP, she drove revenue growth, led successful mergers, developed client service models, and streamlined operations to double profitability and productivity.

Abbasi has 30 years of experience as an executive and board member in the enterprise software industry. Currently, he is a member of the board at Red Hat, New Relic and Streamsets. As chairman and CEO of Informatica, from 2004 to 2015, Abbasi grew the company five-fold to become the #1 leader in data integration category. Prior to Informatica, Abbasi was a member of the executive committee at Oracle Corporation and led the Tools Division and Education Services. At Oracle, from 1982 to 2003, Abbasi played an instrumental role in growing the business from $4 million to $9 billion in annual revenues.

“Mary Cranston and Sohaib Abbasi have decades of proven success guiding and growing companies,” said Chris Young, CEO of McAfee. “Mary’s leadership and experience will be invaluable to McAfee as we continue to grow and help keep everyone -- from individuals to the largest of enterprises -- protected from the device to the cloud. Sohaib has taken highly successful enterprise technology companies to the next level and adds valuable experience to McAfee’s board. I’m looking forward to working closely with them as McAfee evolves.”

“As a preeminent leader in cybersecurity, McAfee offers an expansive product portfolio to protect the digital assets of both consumers and enterprises across the globe,” Abbasi said. “I am impressed by its potential and its singular focus to help protect customers against today’s and tomorrow’s cyber threats.”

“This is the right time to join McAfee as it fulfills its mission of making the world a safer place,” said Cranston. “As cybercrime poses bigger and more consequential threats to our lives, the opportunity to help steward a trusted leader in the cybersecurity space, at this incredibly important moment, feels especially significant.”
