AmerisourceBergen’s ThinkLive Summit Focuses on Innovation & Patient Access

400 pharmaceutical manufacturers joined the healthcare solutions leader for two-day event

VALLEY FORGE, Pa.--()--Today, AmerisourceBergen, a global healthcare solutions leader, concluded its annual two-day manufacturer summit ThinkLive 2018. The conference brought together more than 400 leading pharmaceutical manufacturers and executives from across AmerisourceBergen to collaborate and share insights around driving increased product access and success around the globe.

Throughout the conference, AmerisourceBergen leaders underscored the importance of enhancing strategic partnerships to increase connectivity within the healthcare system and improve patient outcomes through pharmaceutical-led care. They also highlighted organizational initiatives centered around innovative technology and solutions to support the next generation of novel and cost-effective therapies, such as cell and gene and biosimilar products.

“At AmerisourceBergen, we see our role in healthcare as a critical link that connects all stakeholders – from the manufacturers developing lifesaving treatments, to the pharmacies and specialty physician practices dispensing and administering these products – with services and solutions that facilitate access and enable the best possible outcomes for patients,” said Akin Odutola, President of Strategic Global Sourcing at AmerisourceBergen. “As our industry continues to rapidly transform, it is our commitment and responsibility to drive innovation across the supply chain, and ultimately create a more efficient system to support the success of all of our partners and their patients.”

AmerisourceBergen discussed clinical advancements, technology-driven approaches to commercialization, and expanding specialty therapies in all sites of care. Two panel discussions focused on the evolution of community pharmacies and the importance of a coordinated care model. Recognizing that pharmacists are essential healthcare providers who can support proper adherence, manufacturers were able to hear first-hand the value each of these unique healthcare settings can provide patients.

In conjunction with these presentations, AmerisourceBergen also released the results of its first national pharmacy survey: Pharmacy Check-Up: Activities & Barriers to Care Analysis. The research quantified pharmacists’ current perceptions on the state of the industry, and identified the biggest opportunities, challenges and barriers pharmacists face in providing high-quality patient care.

AmerisourceBergen also recognized several companies for their contributions to shaping healthcare delivery, including:

  • Shaping Healthcare Delivery Award for Generis: Mylan Pharmaceuticals
  • Shaping Healthcare Delivery Award for Generics: Ascend Laboratories
  • Shaping Healthcare Delivery Award for Brand & Specialty: Indivior
  • Shaping Healthcare Delivery Award for Brand & Specialty: GlaxoSmithKline
