SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Combining their experience in Italian coffee culture with their love for Italian tradition, Seattle-based artisan coffee roaster Caffè Umbria has created a Negroni Week Blend for the 6th Annual Negroni Week. The blend will be available for purchase Monday, June 4 through Saturday, June 30 online or at all seven Caffè Umbria locations in Chicago, Portland and Seattle for $15 (12-ounce bags) or $80 (five-pound bags). $1 from each bag sold will benefit No Kid Hungry, a charity working to end child hunger in America.
Made primarily with Mexican and Kenyan coffees, the blend embodies the flavors of a classic Negroni cocktail. Master Roaster Emanuele Bizzarri explains, “Given our Italian roots, we love Campari at Caffè Umbria in all its beautiful, tasty iterations, so we were very excited when given the opportunity to create a coffee blend for Negroni Week. It was a bit of a challenge to create a coffee that captures the essence and taste of this iconic cocktail – bitter, sweet, herbaceous and citrusy. I chose the Mexico for the bitter-sweet taste and the Kenya for its citrusy aroma, roasting the coffee medium-light to bring out the full potential of those flavors, resulting in a blend that any Negroni lover would appreciate."
Caffè Umbria’s cafés will offer the Negroni Week Blend as a cold brew and a variety of other brew methods ($4.50 12-ounce; $5 16-ounce). The Portland cafés only will serve alcoholic Cold Brew Negroni made in a Yama Tower and Negroni-inspired cocktails. Cocktail recipes and photos available upon request.
