MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Capella University is excited to announce its Master of Social Work degree programs have been granted accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE), Commission on Accreditation. The CSWE accreditation is the professional standard in social work education.
Accreditation by CSWE indicates that the content and quality of Capella’s Master of Social Work (MSW) programs have been evaluated and meet standards set by the profession.
“Earning this accreditation is a major milestone,” says Brian Christenson, social work program chair and MSW program director at Capella University. “Achieving this gold standard further enables us to advance our mission of extending access to high-quality education. When our students graduate, they will be professionally and competitively prepared to practice in the field of social work helping individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities across the country.”
Capella’s MSW comprises two programs – a foundation program for those seeking to enter the profession of social work, and an advanced-standing program for those who already have earned a CSWE-accredited bachelor’s degree in social work. Both programs have curriculum aligned to CSWE educational policy and accreditation standards, skill-building residency courses, and supervised fieldwork, which helps prepare students for advanced generalist practice.
Capella University began admitting students to the programs in fall of 2015.
