NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SigmaCare, a leading provider of cloud-based services and mobile applications for the long-term, post-acute care market, announced today that it has been chosen by Northwell Health as the electronic health record (EHR) of choice to empower Northwell’s skilled nursing facilities to excel in the ever changing and complex healthcare market.
Northwell Health, formerly North Shore-LIJ Health System, is the New York area’s largest provider and the largest private employer in the state. With a workforce of more than 61,000 employees, Northwell Health operates four skilled nursing facilities on Long Island: Broadlawn Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Amityville, Orzac Center for Rehabilitation in Valley Stream, Peconic Bay Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Riverhead, and Stern Family Center for Rehabilitation in Manhasset.
Northwell will be leveraging SigmaCare’s leading EHR platform to focus on computerized physician order entry (CPOE), medication management, mobile physician app and interoperability services. The organization’s new five-year agreement with SigmaCare includes connecting over 22 care providers in the Northwell care ecosystem, leveraging SigmaCare’s robust interoperability platform (including inbound and outbound CCDA), as well as the market’s deepest care management platform to improve care outcomes and meet complex national and New York State regulations.
“We are very excited about our relationship with SigmaCare,” said Gerard Kaiser, Northwell Health’s executive director of skilled nursing facility services. “SigmaCare is a national EHR software company and has the largest market penetration in the metropolitan New York area for nursing home EHR’s. The SigmaCare EHR meets our interoperability and care outcome needs and we believe is the best program available to SNF’s.”
With the growing movement from volume to value-based payments, healthcare providers need solutions that can help them optimize their referrals and target the right care at the right time to improve care outcomes, cost drivers and opportunities for improvement. SigmaCare’s EHR assets include customer relationship management, revenue cycle management, care management, physician prescribing and interoperability. Together, these assets integrate, monitor and manage clinical, financial and operational information to enable improved care and financial management. In addition, they are interoperable and can easily communicate with other technologies, increasing safer transitions of care.
“We’re increasingly finding that health systems are interested in engaging SigmaCare for a more complete and in-depth EHR system than is typically offered in the market,” said Steve Pacicco, chief executive officer, SigmaCare. “Providers like Northwell Health want to know that the system they are working on is deep and complete and focuses on the holistic resident experience from referral to discharge. Our solutions are interoperable, economical and are intuitively designed so practitioners spend less time on technology and more with residents, improving outcomes and managing costs. We’re excited to be working with Northwell to help them better understand organizational performance in every arena so they can deliver high-quality, cost-effective care to their residents.”
