WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alegeus, the market leader in consumer directed healthcare solutions today announced that it will be donating nearly $20,000 across three charities as a result of its 2015 holiday giving program. In lieu of a holiday card and corporate gifts, the company opted instead to allow employees to showcase a charity of their choosing via a page on the corporate website. Page visitors were then encouraged to vote for their favorite charities – with the company pledging to donate up to a dollar per vote for the three winning organizations.
The three winning charities include:
- The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research ($10,000 donation) - The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today.
- Cystic Fibrosis Foundation ($5,000 donation) - The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care.
- TADSAW ($2,500 donation) - The mission of TADSAW (Train a Dog Save a Warrior) is to provide for the training of a medical alert service dog, as designated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, for any wounded warrior, active duty or veteran, surviving with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), military sexual trauma (MST) and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI) to restore and improve the warrior's quality of life with a canine 'battle buddy,' at no charge to the warrior. In the past five and a half years, TADSAW has accredited 495 medical alert service dog teams throughout the United States. With this, the quality of life of 495 veterans, families and their communities has been positively effected. In addition, more than 700 teams are currently in or anticipating the start of their training.
“Alegeus employees are passionate about giving back to their communities – it’s one of our corporate values – and we were so pleased to give back to these organizations this holiday season,” said Steve Auerbach, CEO of Alegeus. “By involving our employees and extended community in choosing causes that were personal, we were able to turn the mundane practice of sending holiday cards into something more fun and engaging – and with a greater purpose. It was very meaningful to hear all of the personal stories and the connections our employees have to these wonderful organizations – it really exemplified the true spirit of the season.”
