ATLANTA--()--Peach State Health Plan hosted an anti bullying awareness event at Browns Mill Elementary School in Lithonia, Ga. The event aimed to educate students, teachers and parents on how to prevent, identify and appropriately intervene when bullying threatens school-aged children.

Renowned children’s author Michelle Bain read from her new anti bullying book, Splotch the Madpole Does a Whole Lot of Bullying. The event also featured a “graffiti wall” where more than 450 students wrote positive messages about themselves and their friends.

“The students at Browns Mill Elementary were wonderfully enthusiastic. Peach State Health Plan supports important initiatives like this that enrich the lives of children throughout Georgia,” said Patrick Healy, President and Chief Executive Officer, Peach State Health Plan.

“Given the always significant and sometimes devastating impact of bullying on the lives of victims, we want to raise awareness about the dangers of bullying and the impact it can have on children,” added Mr. Healy.

The event is part of a national initiative launched by Centene Corporation, Cenpatico and Children’s National Health System in October 2013 during Anti-bullying Awareness Month. Peach State is a wholly owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation.
