Hanover Expands into U.S. Markets, Names Carter as Managing Director

LONDON & NEW YORK--()--As part of global expansion efforts, London-based Hanover Search Group has named Tom Carter as Managing Director in charge of their U.S. office. In this role, he is charged with leveraging Hanover’s robust financial services relationships. Transatlantic engagements within the firm’s leading Insurance Actuarial & Risk practice are underway on behalf of several consulting client firms.

Prior to joining Hanover, Tom Carter spent six years managing search firm LeaderFinder Consulting with a special focus on risk, finance, compliance and underwriting roles across financial services sectors. Previously he led the Global Chief Security Officer Practice at Gow & Partners.

Before entering executive search, Tom spent 11 years as a United States diplomat with a special focus in counterterrorism: From 2002-2005, he was a United States Delegate to the UN Security Council where, among other accomplishments, he led the planning of a 10,000 person peacekeeping force in Haiti. Tom was the Policy Director for the Western Hemisphere in the Office of Counterterrorism at the U.S. State Department from 2000 to 2002 and received awards for his service during and after 9/11. From 1998-2000, Tom ran a counter-narcotics program in Nicaragua aimed at stopping transhipment of Colombian cocaine to the U.S. Tom earned his undergraduate degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and a Master’s degree in Administration from Harvard University. He is fluent in Spanish and French and lives in New York with his wife and seven children.
