SAN FRANCISCO--()--Callan today announced that Benjamin B. Taylor joined the firm’s Fund Sponsor Consulting practice on March 5 as vice president. Mr. Taylor—a defined contribution (DC) specialist with extensive knowledge in government DC and 529 plans—will be responsible for investment structure reviews, fee analyses and record keeping searches, as well as providing thought leadership on all aspects of the DC marketplace. Mr. Taylor will be based at Callan’s headquarters in San Francisco and he will report to Lori Lucas, DC practice leader.

Prior to joining Callan, Mr. Taylor held several positions at R.V. Kuhns & Associates where he led most third party administrator and record keeper vendor searches, oversaw dozens of DC-related projects, and created one of the first open architecture 529 plan investment lineups in the industry. Mr. Taylor is also experienced in supporting a variety of client types, including: ERISA and non-ERISA DC plans, Taft-Hartley, pension trusts, high-net worth families, foundation and endowments, and public defined benefit plans.

Mr. Taylor received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Reed College in Portland, Oregon; while there, he received a commendation for academic excellence. He went on to earn his Master of International Political Economy & Development degree from Fordham University and was named a Presidential Fellow.

He is fluent in Spanish and speaks conversational Thai. Mr. Taylor is a level II candidate in the CFA program.

“As our business continues to expand and the marketplace becomes more complex, we are always searching for highly talented, smart and industrious people to join our firm,” said Lucas. “Ben fits that mold completely and we are very excited he chose Callan as the place he wants to put his skills and intellect to work and continue his career.”
