Pioneer Investments Commemorates 80 Years in Asset Management With The Closing Bell® Ringing at New York Stock Exchange

BOSTON--()--Pioneer Investments today announced that it will commemorate 80 years in asset management with a bell ringing ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange on the day of the companys anniversary, Feb. 13, 2008. The company was founded in 1928 by Phillip L. Carret, a legendary value investor who launched the Pioneer Fund, the companys flagship mutual fund. The Pioneer Fund is the third-oldest mutual fund in the United States.

Attending the event will be Pioneer Investments Global Chief Executive Officer Dario Frigerio, US Chief Executive Officer Daniel K. Kingsbury, and John Carey, portfolio manager of the Pioneer Fund.

The style of investing that Phil Carret began in 1928 is still important today, said Frigerio. Carret believed in carefully researching individual companies and searching for their intrinsic value using bottom-up research. This approach to investing was the cornerstone of Pioneer when it was founded and it remains so today. We are taking this proven approach and expanding Pioneer globally, now reaching 25 countries. I am proud to be affiliated with a company steeped in such a rich history and successful approach to investing, Frigerio added.

Kingsbury said, Pioneer has grown from a small boutique asset management firm into a global leader with more than $310 billion in assets under management, all built on the foundation of the Pioneer Fund. We are proud to have John Carey managing the Pioneer Fund and maintaining the tradition that has helped build Pioneer.

A Word About Risk:

The Fund invests in a limited number of securities and, as a result, the fund's performance may be more volatile than the performance of fund's holding more securities. These risks may increase share price volatility. Investments in mid-sized companies may offer the potential for higher returns, but are also subject to greater short-term price fluctuations than larger, more established companies. Investing in foreign and/or emerging markets securities involves risks relating to interest rates, currency exchange rates, economic, and political conditions. At times, the Fund's investments may represent industries or industry sectors that are interrelated or have common risks, making it more susceptible to any economic, political, or regulatory developments or other risks affecting those industries and sectors.
