Millbrae BART Station Art Unveiling & Open House

OAKLAND, Calif.--()--April 29, 2003--BART, SamTrans and the City of Millbrae will host an Art Unveiling and Open House on Saturday, May 3, 2003 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the new Millbrae BART Station located at 200 North Rollins Road. Life-size bronze sculptures created by Scott Donahue and terrazzo benches created by Donna Billick will be unveiled. The community celebration will feature community leaders, information booths, live entertainment, and refreshments. The event opens the station doors to the public for the first time.

The new Millbrae Station will allow BART, Caltrain and SamTrans to connect in one inter-modal location, thereby maximizing regional travel options to passengers throughout the greater Bay Area. A BART train and one of Caltrain's new "Baby Bullet's" will be parked at the station. The new Millbrae BART Station is part of the $1.5 billion dollar, four station, 8.7-mile BART-SFO Extension project. By the year 2010, BART patronage at the Millbrae Station is expected to reach 33,000 riders daily.

Note to Editors & Assignment Desks: An advance tour of the art and the station for the media can be arranged. Please call Molly McArthur at (650) 689-8411 for more information.
