Swisslog Healthcare Powers Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein’s Pharmacy Automation

12-year partnership with Latin America's leading hospital advances pharmacy automation to elevate patient care across the region

  • Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein selects Swisslog Healthcare in 2014 as its partner for central pharmacy and decentralized medication management
  • Two new Einstein hospital locations opening in 2027 to feature pharmacy automation, automated dispensing cabinets, smart carts, and smart crash carts
  • Swisslog Healthcare makes its first public introduction of new pharmacy automation innovations to the Brazilian market

BROOMFIELD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Swisslog Healthcare, a global industry leader of pharmacy and transport automation solutions, introduced new pharmacy automation innovations to the Brazilian market at the VIII Simpósio Internacional Einstein de Farmácia Hospitalar, Clínica, Radiofarmácia, Pesquisa Clínica, Automação e Oncologia, held Oct. 29 and 30, 2026, at the Centro de Ensino e Pesquisa Einstein in São Paulo, Brazil. The debut reflects a 12-year partnership with Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, widely recognized as Latin America's leading hospital for healthcare innovation and patient care, and marks a new chapter in Swisslog Healthcare's expanding presence across the region.

These products are designated for two new Einstein hospital locations scheduled to open in January and July 2027, which will incorporate a full suite of pharmacy automation solutions, automated dispensing cabinets, smart carts, and smart crash carts. Smart crash cart technology is currently in the qualification and testing phase at Einstein's main São Paulo campus. ANVISA notification for products intended for additional Brazilian hospital customers is currently in progress with Swisslog Healthcare.

Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein is a private, philanthropic institution that sets the standard for healthcare excellence throughout Latin America. Pharmacy directors, directors of innovation, and clinical leaders from hospitals across the region attend the symposium to learn what is next in patient care and hospital operations. The event stands as the region's most influential forum for healthcare advancement, bringing together the professionals who shape how technology transforms patient care across Latin America.

What the Invitation Means

"Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein represents everything we work toward as a company — a health system that demands the highest standards of patient safety and never stops innovating to achieve them," said Diogo Alvim, Head of Business Support and Development EMEA Service & Sales, Swisslog Healthcare. "Partnering with Einstein for more than a decade has pushed us to bring our best technology and our best thinking to every solution we deliver."

A Partner in Patient Care

"The speed at which critical items move between hospital facilities directly affects the quality of care patients receive," said Nilson Gonçalves Malta, Hospital Automation Management and Consultant, Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. "Automated dispensing at ward and surgical room level has raised the standard for medication safety, but that standard only holds if it reaches the crash carts and medication carts too. Bringing the same level of automation to every cart closes the last gap and covers the point of care completely."

Inside the Symposium

The Swisslog Healthcare Satellite Symposium session, titled "Automatizar para cuidar: transformando processos para a eficiência e segurança do cuidado" (Automate to Care: Transforming Processes for Efficiency and Safety in Care), featured Nilson Gonçalves Malta, Hospital Automation Manager, and João Paulo Victorino, Nursing Practices Consultant and Innovation Lead, both of Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. The 30-minute session examined the role automation plays in emergency resuscitation workflows and broader clinical process improvements across the Einstein hospital network.

Swisslog Healthcare's presence at the VIII Simpósio Internacional Einstein reflects the company's commitment to helping healthcare providers around the world achieve higher levels of productivity and deliver better patient outcomes across the continuum of care. As Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein prepares to open two new locations equipped with Swisslog Healthcare technology, the company continues to strengthen its role as a trusted global partner in pharmacy automation.
