Kalahari Resorts & Conventions - Spotsylvania and the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority Announce Partnership as Kalahari Comes to Virginia

New partnership offers Amtrak guests discounted train fares and free shuttle service to Kalahari’s new Virginia resort

RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) and Kalahari Resorts & Conventions - Spotsylvania are pleased to celebrate the upcoming opening of Kalahari’s resort in Spotsylvania with a new partnership. By joining forces, Kalahari and VPRA are offering travelers a more convenient and relaxing way to reach Kalahari’s newest resort.

Through this partnership, guests traveling to the Kalahari in Spotsylvania can take Amtrak Virginia to either Fredericksburg or Ashland, where Kalahari will provide complimentary shuttle service from the train station to the resort. Advanced reservations are required. Kalahari guests will also receive a 10% discount on Amtrak Virginia fares, making it easier and more affordable to leave the car at home.

“Virginia’s passenger rail network connects people to destinations and experiences across the Commonwealth, and through this partnership, Amtrak Virginia now has a direct connection to the state’s newest attraction,” said DJ Stadtler, Executive Director of VPRA. “By offering discounted Amtrak Virginia fares and a convenient connection to Kalahari, we’re giving travelers another reason to choose the train and make the journey part of the vacation.”

“Vacations should begin the moment you leave home, not when you finally escape traffic,” said Brian Shanle, General Manager, Kalahari Resorts & Conventions - Spotsylvania. “Our partnership with Amtrak Virginia gives our guests another convenient way to experience everything Kalahari has to offer. By pairing the comfort of train travel with a complimentary shuttle connection, we’re helping families spend less time worrying about the drive and more time looking forward to their getaway.”

With VPRA’s state-supported Amtrak Virginia service, Kalahari guests can skip the traffic and enjoy traveling by train. Amtrak Virginia serves 17 stations in the Commonwealth as well as Washington, DC with six daily roundtrips along four corridors. Service travels through the Commonwealth from Roanoke, Norfolk, Newport News, and Richmond to Washington, DC and points north, including Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City.

The travel experience is designed to keep planning simple.
