Werner® Chairman and CEO Derek Leathers Elected Chairman of the American Trucking Associations

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Werner Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, is proud to celebrate the election of its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Derek J. Leathers, as Chairman of the Board of the American Trucking Associations (ATA). Leathers was elected during the ATA Management Conference & Exhibition and will serve a one-year term spanning October 2026 through October 2027.

Werner has long set industry standards for fleet safety technology, driver advocacy and supply chain service across North America. Leathers brings more than 30 years of transportation experience—including more than 25 years guiding Werner’s operational and strategic growth—to the federation’s top leadership post.

During his term as ATA Chairman, Leathers will leverage Werner’s heritage of industry leadership to advocate on key national priorities: enhancing highway safety through uniform regulatory enforcement, curbing lawsuit abuse, expanding truck parking and infrastructure and supporting the nation's truck drivers.

"For more than 90 years, the ATA has served as the unified voice of the American trucking industry," said Leathers. "At Werner, our leadership has always been grounded in doing what’s right for our drivers, our customers and the communities we serve. As ATA Chairman, I am honored to champion those same principles on Capitol Hill and across the country, advocating for policies that protect compliant carriers, empower our skilled workforce and keep America's supply chain moving safely and efficiently."

Leathers succeeds Greg Hodgen as ATA Chairman and will collaborate with incoming ATA President and CEO Mark Colson along with state trucking associations nationwide to advance federal and state freight priorities.
