Covenant HealthCare Joins Nomi Health's Direct Contracting Network for Michigan Employers

Great Lakes Bay Region's most preferred health system extends Michigan's direct contracting movement, delivering $0 out-of-pocket care for employees and their families

SAGINAW, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nomi Health today announced that Covenant HealthCare has joined its direct contracting network, giving Nomi Health employer customers a new way to curb rising healthcare costs while ensuring $0 out-of-pocket access to care for their employees and families.

“Direct contracting gives employers a straightforward path that lowers costs without shifting the burden onto families,” said Mark Newman, Founder and CEO of Nomi Health.

This partnership comes as average annual family premiums nationally climbed to nearly $27,000, according to KFF.

Covenant HealthCare's decades-long commitment to community-centered care makes it a natural partner for Nomi Health's direct contracting model, extending affordable, high-quality care to more Michigan families through their employers.

“Employers come to us because they are ready for a different way to buy healthcare for their workers,” said Mark Newman, Founder and CEO of Nomi Health. “Direct contracting gives them one, a straightforward path that lowers costs without shifting the burden onto families. Partnering with Covenant HealthCare brings that model to more communities across Michigan, and we’re proud to grow it alongside a system so deeply rooted in the Great Lakes Bay Region.”

Key benefits of the partnership include:

  • $0 out-of-pocket costs for employees and families enrolled through a participating employer, across Covenant HealthCare's more than 20 inpatient and outpatient facilities and network of over 600 physicians, removing a financial barrier that often leads people to delay care
  • Direct contracts that eliminate traditional healthcare intermediaries and reduce administrative complexity, resulting in savings for employers without shifting costs to employees
  • Comprehensive care access across Covenant HealthCare's network, including Level II adult and pediatric trauma, emergency medicine, cardiovascular services, oncology, orthopedics, neurosciences, and maternity care

“At Covenant HealthCare, our mission is centered on providing extraordinary care for patients and families throughout every stage of their healthcare journey,” said Kevin Albosta, Chief Financial Officer. “Partnerships like this help create a more supportive and seamless experience, making it easier for people to focus on their health and receive care when and where they need it.”

As the most preferred healthcare provider in the Great Lakes Bay region, serving families across more than 60 counties, Covenant HealthCare joins a growing Nomi network extending direct contracting access across the state. The network now includes Trinity Health Michigan, Henry Ford Health, and ProMedica, making Michigan one of the most extensive direct contracting markets in the country for self-funded employers.
