UCSF Center for Reproductive Health and Conceivable Life Sciences Announce Collaboration and Plans for UCSF Fertility Excellence Center

Planned research hub will explore automation-assisted IVF laboratory technology to improve outcomes and expand access to fertility care

SAN FRANCISCO & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UCSF Center for Reproductive Health and Conceivable Life Sciences today announced a collaboration and plans to establish the UCSF Fertility Excellence Center, a research hub for innovation in IVF laboratory automation.

The collaboration brings together UCSF's clinical and research expertise and Conceivable's AURA platform, an automation-assisted IVF laboratory built on Physical AI and designed to operate under the supervision of embryologists. Together, the organizations aim to explore how greater precision, consistency, and standardization in the IVF laboratory could improve outcomes and make high-quality fertility care accessible to more patients.

Planned for UCSF’s Mission Bay campus, the Center will unite UCSF's Center for Reproductive Health, one of the highest-volume IVF programs on the West Coast, with UCSF's Center for Reproductive Sciences research program. Drawing inspiration from CERN, the European physics research organization, which brings world-class research and applied practice under one roof, the Center is designed to advance discovery, train the next generation of reproductive scientists and embryologists, and accelerate the translation of reproductive science into clinical care. Its goal is to bring greater standardization and reproducibility to every cycle, for every patient.

"UCSF has always been committed to advancing reproductive medicine through science and innovation. This Center will give our clinical and research teams a laboratory environment that matches that ambition, one where precision and consistency are built into every step of the process, and where the data generated in clinical practice can directly inform our research program."

Dr. Marcelle Cedars, Director, UCSF Center for Reproductive Health

“Together with UCSF’s Center for Reproductive Health, we share a vision for the future of IVF: that it can be measured and standardized. UCSF brings clinical depth, scientific rigor, and a commitment to reproductive medicine that is hard to match. We are honored to work with Dr. Mitchell Rosen, who directs UCSF’s embryology lab, and the rest of their team to explore what an automation-assisted laboratory can mean for patients and for the field.”

Alan Murray, CEO and Co-Founder, Conceivable Life Sciences

“What draws us to UCSF is the combination of rigorous science and high-volume clinical practice in one place. AURA is designed to make every step of the IVF laboratory measurable and reproducible, with embryologists supervising throughout. Working alongside UCSF’s investigators, we can test that in a research setting and build the evidence that clinics everywhere will want to see.”

Alejandro Chavez Badiola, MD, Co-Founder and Chief Medical and Innovation Officer, Conceivable Life Sciences

Over time, the collaboration intends to explore whether the model developed at the Center could support a broader network of clinical sites, extending standardized, high-quality embryology to more patients and communities.

About Conceivable Life Sciences

Conceivable Life Sciences is a pioneer of robotics and Physical AI application in IVF clinical settings, unifying proprietary software, robotics, and optics to reimagine this Nobel Prize-winning therapy. Its AURA platform, the world’s first automation-assisted robotic IVF laboratory platform, is designed to work alongside embryologists, helping replace hundreds of operator-dependent manual steps with machine precision. AURA is being evaluated in ongoing pilot studies in which over 150 patients have been treated, more than 1,000 eggs have been processed, and live births have been achieved. In July 2026, Conceivable entered a strategic partnership with IVI Institute, the world’s leading fertility care organization, to bring AURA to its U.S clinical network. Conceivable is headquartered in New York with offices in London, Barcelona, and Guadalajara, Mexico. Learn more at www.conceivable.life.
