Corvias Team Takes Action to Support Veterans Transitioning Out of Homelessness

The Landings at Notre Dame team volunteers with Mishawaka Troop Town, providing hands-on support for veterans on their path to stability and independence.

SOUTH BEND, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Corvias team members from The Landings at Notre Dame, a Corvias-managed student housing community for the University of Notre Dame, recently returned to Mishawaka Troop Town to support veterans transitioning out of homelessness. The volunteer service project builds on the team's involvement with the organization over the past year and reflects Corvias' commitment to its Core Principle of generously giving back to the communities it serves.

Four Corvias volunteers spent the day enhancing the outdoor space at Mishawaka Troop Town. The team cleared overgrown vegetation, improved community grounds, and donated household essentials and equipment to support residents.

"The Corvias team continues to show what true partnership looks like," said Jim Methard, president and co-founder of Mishawaka Troop Town. "Their support delivers meaningful, measurable improvements for the men and women who call Mishawaka Troop Town home."

Among the donated items were laundry supplies, trash bags, disinfectant wipes, a bike rack, and a new snowblower to help residents prepare for the winter months.

"Whether supporting military families, students, or veterans transitioning to a new chapter in life, we believe strong communities are built through meaningful partnerships and service,” said Thelma Edgell, president of Corvias' higher education division. “The dedication shown by our team at The Landings at Notre Dame reflects Corvias’ core values and the lasting impact we strive to make in the communities we serve."

Founded to provide stable housing and supportive services for veterans experiencing homelessness, Mishawaka Troop Town offers residents a comprehensive support system designed to foster financial stability, independence, and personal growth. The organization's impact is reflected in stories like that of a veteran who saved enough money during his stay to reunite with his son, move to Florida, and open his own business.

"Mishawaka Troop Town provides an important lifeline for veterans working to rebuild their lives," said Corvias Community Manager, Laura Salyer. "We're grateful for the opportunity to help create a welcoming environment and support the organization's mission."
