Fairfax County, Virginia, Transforms Resident Services with Tyler Technologies’ Resident AI Assistant

Fast, reliable answers from trusted county sources help residents get the information they need anytime, anywhere

PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced that Fairfax County, Virginia, has launched ‘Ask Fairfax’, a generative digital assistant powered by Tyler’s Resident AI Assistant. The solution provides residents with fast, secure access to information sourced exclusively from Fairfax County’s official website, fairfaxcounty.gov.

As part of its digital modernization efforts, Fairfax County implemented Tyler’s Resident AI Assistant to replace a legacy chatbot solution. Residents can now access critical information in seconds through a centralized, one-stop resource, eliminating the need to navigate multiple websites and departments. The solution also provides analytics on search trends, popular topics, and engagement, while protecting privacy by collecting only anonymized metrics, not resident conversations.

“Our longstanding partnership with Tyler gave us confidence that we could deploy AI responsibly while providing residents with easier access to county information,” said Anita Rao, chief applications officer and deputy director of IT at Fairfax County Government. “It’s an important step in transforming how residents engage with county government, making information and services more accessible while breaking down traditional barriers between the county and the community.”

Since launching in early August, the most common resident inquiries have centered on real estate, personal property taxes, vehicle registration, and circuit court information. With more than 40,000 questions answered to date, ‘Ask Fairfax’ is already proving to be a reliable resource for county residents.

Tyler has partnered with Fairfax County since 2016, providing website hosting services and online payment solutions. As a trusted technology partner, Tyler has helped improve the county’s digital services and online access to government information. When county leaders sought a more advanced, scalable chatbot solution, they turned to Tyler to deliver a secure experience for residents, focused on accuracy and reliability.

“For more than a decade, we’ve partnered with Fairfax County to modernize critical digital services,” said Franklin Williams, chief artificial intelligence officer for Tyler. “As governments across the country look to integrate AI into the way they serve residents, they're turning to trusted partners who understand the unique demands of the public sector. Fairfax County is among a growing number of organizations leveraging Tyler's AI solutions to create more intuitive resident experiences while maintaining the highest standards of security and trust.”

Unlike generic AI tools, Tyler AI is purpose-built for state and local government. Embedded directly into Tyler’s trusted solutions, Tyler AI delivers agentic and generative AI capabilities that help public sector organizations streamline operations, enhance decision-making, improve resident experiences, and increase employee productivity. Backed by decades of public sector expertise and insights from thousands of government clients, Tyler AI delivers practical, trusted intelligence while ensuring people remain at the center of every decision.
