New York Life Investment Management Expands Insurance Solutions Capabilities

Appointment of Rupal Shah advances NYLIM’s strategy to bring its insurance heritage and public and private market capabilities to insurers

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM), a global asset management firm with approximately $838 billion in assets under management (AUM), today announced the appointment of Rupal Shah as head of Insurance Solutions. In this new role, Shah will lead NYLIM’s strategy to offer its insurance-specific portfolio expertise, balance-sheet perspective and broad investment capabilities to insurers globally. Shah will report to Matthew Mosca, head of NYLIM’s Institutional Client Group.

NYLIM’s Insurance Solutions strategy builds on New York Life Insurance Company’s more than 180 years of experience investing to support long-term insurance liabilities. With more than $415 billion in insurance AUM and a position as the eighth-largest insurance-owned asset manager*, NYLIM combines the perspective of a major insurance investor with differentiated origination capabilities, disciplined underwriting and specialized investment expertise across public and private markets. Its approach is focused on helping insurers enhance risk-adjusted income, manage capital efficiency, strengthen asset-liability alignment, and build resilient portfolios.

“Insurance CIOs face increasingly complex challenges as they seek to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns while managing capital requirements, liquidity, asset-liability management and evolving regulatory frameworks,” said Naïm Abou-Jaoudé, CEO of NYLIM. “Insurance Solutions is a growth priority for NYLIM and an area where we see significant opportunity to deepen our relationships with clients.”

“Rupal’s appointment is an important step in executing our Insurance Solutions strategy. Her leadership and insurance expertise will help us harness the full potential of our platform for clients and strengthen our position as a strategic partner to insurers globally,” said Mosca.

“New York Life has a distinct perspective because insurance investing is embedded in its history and culture,” said Shah. “I’m excited by the opportunity to bring together that insurance experience with NYLIM’s capabilities across public and private markets and help insurers navigate increasingly complex portfolio needs.”

Shah joins NYLIM from Silver Point Capital, where she served as managing director and global head of Insurance Solutions, leading the firm’s global insurance solutions platform. Previously, she held senior leadership roles at PGIM, including head of Global Client Advisory and Japan Insurance Solutions and head of Insurance Client Advisory, with responsibility for the firm’s third-party insurance business. Earlier in her career, she held positions at Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase.

Shah holds an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a B.S. in business administration from Rutgers University. She also holds Series 7, 63 and 3 registrations.
