CentralSquare Named 2026 AWS Champion for Removing a Major Barrier to Public Sector Cloud Migration

Recognition honors CentralSquare’s innovative approach to helping public sector agencies modernize critical reporting systems while preserving decades of customized work

LAKE MARY, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CentralSquare Technologies, a leading provider of public sector software, today announced it has been named a 2026 AWS Champion, recognizing the company’s innovative use of cloud technology to help government agencies modernize mission-critical systems while preserving years of customized reporting.

The AWS Champions Awards, curated by the Center for Digital Government and Center for Digital Education, recognize public- and private-sector organizations using AWS cloud technologies to drive innovation and deliver better outcomes across government and education.

For many public sector agencies, years of highly customized reporting had become a significant barrier to moving to the cloud. CentralSquare removed that obstacle by developing a cloud-based reporting approach that allows agencies to preserve existing reports while modernizing their systems, eliminating the need to rebuild years, and in some cases decades, of critical reporting from scratch.

Government agencies rely on specialized reports for critical functions including court documents, utility billing, public records, and regulatory compliance. Rebuilding these reports during a cloud migration can require thousands of engineering hours and risk changes to established formatting, functionality, or compliance requirements.

CentralSquare addressed this challenge by replacing legacy on-premises reporting tools with Bold Reports, a browser-based reporting engine hosted on AWS. Native support for existing report files preserves established report layouts, conditional formatting and compliance templates in the cloud.

"Reports are where an agency's institutional knowledge lives: the court forms, utility bills, and compliance templates they've refined for years," said Denise Hemke, Chief Product Officer at CentralSquare. "Moving to the cloud shouldn't mean starting over. We built this so agencies can modernize without rebuilding what already works."

More than 60 CentralSquare customers representing 64 public sector agencies across more than 25 states are using the new reporting environment in production. CentralSquare estimates that preserving customers’ existing report files has avoided approximately 3,000 to 5,000 hours of report redevelopment.

The migration was completed with no operational downtime or loss of report formatting, while the browser-based designer gives agency staff the ability to create and edit reports without installing desktop software or relying heavily on IT resources.

The solution also supports CentralSquare’s broader cloud modernization strategy. As of January 2026, CentralSquare had surpassed 1,065 agency cloud deployments, reflecting the company’s continued investment in helping public sector organizations transition critical operations to secure, scalable cloud environments.
