AdventHealth and OpenEvidence Together Support More Time for Patient Care

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--When patients and families have questions about a diagnosis, treatment or next step in care, they deserve a team that can bring together clinical expertise, the latest medical evidence and an understanding of the whole person.

AdventHealth is working with OpenEvidence to help care teams find current medical evidence more efficiently, reducing the time spent searching for information and creating more time for meaningful conversations with patients and families.

Beginning Oct 1, OpenEvidence will be made available to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, care managers, therapists and other clinical roles across AdventHealth integrated into their existing workflows within the electronic health record system. The resource makes it easier for clinicians to research medical scenarios using information grounded in peer-reviewed literature and clinical guidelines.

“OpenEvidence gives our care teams a practical way to access current clinical evidence as they care for patients,” said Michael Cacciatore, MD, chief clinical officer for AdventHealth. “It can help reduce the time clinicians spend searching for information and create more time for listening, explaining and caring for the whole person. This gives our care teams another resource to use alongside their training, experience and clinical judgment.”

The resource is intended to support, not replace, the expertise and accountability of AdventHealth clinicians. Every care decision remains rooted in professional judgment, the patient’s individual circumstances and the relationship between patients, families and their care team.

This work reflects AdventHealth’s approach to innovation: start with a meaningful care need, introduce technology thoughtfully and keep compassion, trust and whole-person care at the center. The goal is not technology for its own sake; it is to help caregivers focus more of their time and attention on the people they serve.
