Croissant Pay Expands to Shopify Checkout and In-Store, With SIMKHAI Among the First Brands Live

Luxury shoppers can now spend the store credit in their Croissant wallet at approved fashion and beauty brands' online checkouts and registers. Brands on Shopify can turn it on in minutes, in time for the holidays.

NEW YORK & NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Croissant, a shopping and rewards app for luxury fashion, today announced that Croissant Pay is now available in Shopify Checkout and at the register through Shopify POS and all other POS systems. Fashion brand SIMKHAI is among the first to offer it through the new integration.

How it works for consumers: Croissant members register their designer pieces, and the app gives them a wallet of store credit:

  • Credit from pieces they resell out of their closets
  • Rewards from shopping with Croissant's partner brands
  • Offers those brands place in the wallet

Unlike a single store's rewards, the credit can be spent across participating luxury fashion and beauty brands. At a participating brand's checkout, online or in-store, a member chooses Croissant Pay, applies the credit in their wallet, and covers any remainder by card, or pays by card and earns credit back.

How it works for brands: After a luxury fashion, apparel, accessory, or beauty brand applies and is accepted to add Croissant Pay to their stores, they can accept orders from Croissant members in minutes, on any Shopify plan. For in-person sales, add the Croissant Pay tile to your POS. At the register, the associate starts the payment, and the shopper completes it in the Croissant app on their phone.

Brands pay a commission comparable to an affiliate commission, only when a shopper uses Croissant credit. There is no setup fee, monthly minimum, or long-term commitment. Brands remain the seller of record and continue to handle orders, shipping, returns, and exchanges.

According to Croissant, more than 200,000 members have registered more than $1 billion of luxury pieces to their Croissant closets, and those pieces carry more than $70 million in live store-credit offers. Members can spend that credit with brands including SIMKHAI, Kirna Zabête, Altuzarra, Mansur Gavriel, AREA, Johanna Ortiz, By Far, and Hampden, and a growing list of luxury brands and multi-brand boutiques.

A key catalyst for the Croissant Pay launch: the cost of reaching luxury customers keeps climbing. Meta reported that its average price per ad rose 12 percent year over year in the second quarter of 2026.

“Reaching a luxury customer costs more every year, and the first order rarely pays for itself. The industry needs two things: alternative means of acquiring the right shoppers, and deeper loyalty,” said John Howard, CEO and Co-Founder of Croissant. “Croissant brings both. Our members hold spending power in Croissant: credit from the pieces they've sold, rewards from the brands they shop, and exclusive offers from the brands they want next. Croissant Pay brings that spending power to a brand's checkout and its stores, and the brand pays only when a member spends. Shoppers earn more credit on each subsequent purchase, keeping them loyal to the curated list of brands in Croissant’s network.”

A new way to shop SIMKHAI

SIMKHAI, the Los Angeles-based fashion house founded by Jonathan Simkhai, began accepting Croissant Pay online on September 11, the day of its Spring/Summer 2027 runway show, and in its SoHo store on Mercer Street, where it hosted a correlating private shopping event. More than 6,600 Croissant members already own SIMKHAI items.

“We’re continually exploring thoughtful ways to enhance the SIMKHAI customer experience,” said Martin Vestre, Chief DTC Officer at SIMKHAI. “Croissant Pay offers another way to engage with the brand while introducing SIMKHAI to a new audience.”

“Innovation has always been central to SIMKHAI, both in our design ethos and in how we connect with our customers,” said Jonathan Simkhai, Founder and Creative Director of SIMKHAI. “Croissant offers a fresh way to discover SIMKHAI, and we’re excited to bring this partnership to our community.”
