TurningPoint Energy Celebrates the Energization on Third of Six Delaware Community Solar Projects

New 2.1 MW facility expands access to clean, affordable energy for Delaware households and advances the State's renewable energy goals

DOVER, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TurningPoint Energy ("TPE") celebrated the ribbon-cutting for a new 2.1 megawatt alternating current (MWac) community solar project near Sandhill Fields in Georgetown, Delaware, marking the third project to come online as part of a previously announced 30 MWdc portfolio in the First State.

This Georgetown community solar facility features more than 5,600 solar panels across approximately 17 fenced acres and is expected to generate about 5.6 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually for the Delmarva Power grid. The project is fully subscribed, serving more than 560 residential customers, including 121 low-income households through Delaware's low-income community solar program.

The addition of new locally generated energy represents a meaningful contribution to Delaware's solar generating capacity and supports the state's goal of reaching 40 percent renewable energy by 2035. The facility's annual generation is also equivalent to eliminating the greenhouse gas emissions associated with approximately 800 gasoline-powered vehicles each year. Development and construction of the facility supported local engineering, electrical, civil construction, and related skilled trades during the buildout phase.

As the third project completed through the growing partnership between TPE and Nautilus Solar Energy ("Nautilus"), the Georgetown site was developed by TPE and is owned and operated by Nautilus. Together, the six-project, 30 MWdc portfolio represents one of the largest community solar investments in Delaware. The companies brought their first project online in Georgetown in June 2025 and their second in Dover in July 2026.

As Delaware works to expand in-state energy generation and increase access to community solar, projects like Georgetown help diversify the state's energy mix while creating long-term value for subscribers and communities. Once fully operational, the six-project portfolio is expected to deliver nearly $35 million in energy savings to Delaware residents and businesses.

Beyond energy infrastructure investment, TPE and Nautilus have committed a combined $240,000 through the six-project portfolio to Delaware nonprofit organizations focused on housing stability, food access, youth development, and workforce readiness. Recipients include Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware and Springboard Delaware.

As the six-project, 30 MWdc portfolio nears completion, it is expected to expand community solar access, stimulate local economic activity, and support Delaware's renewable energy and energy independence goals.
