Ilant Health Adds Clinical Leaders to Scale Its Comprehensive Cardiometabolic Care Model
- New behavioral health and dietitian leaders will build on Ilant’s comprehensive care model, deepening support for muscle and bone health, nutrition, body image, emotional wellbeing, optimizing outcomes and long-term maintenance
- The new appointments come as Ilant members report significant outcomes, including improved body composition while losing weight, with average muscle mass increased by approximately one percentage point, and average body fat decreased by approximately two percentage points over six months
- Members also report over 25% improvement in wellbeing measures, and six additional mentally healthy days per month
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As Ilant Health rapidly expands its value-based care model, the company today announced two senior clinical appointments that build on its success in addressing the broad range of these needs associated with obesity and cardiometabolic health treatment.
"Improving metabolic health requires more than just a prescription for weight loss. People need a variety of support across the treatment journey."

Kasey Goodpaster, Ph.D., FASMBS-IH, has joined Ilant as Director of Behavioral Health and Christina Link, MS, RDN, LDN, CDCES, as Director of Nutrition. Their appointments reflect Ilant's commitment to high quality obesity and cardiometabolic care that addresses the whole person including physical, nutritional and psychological effects of treatment alongside clinical needs. These roles sit at the center of Ilant’s care team model, which pairs every member with an obesity medicine clinician, a registered dietitian, a licensed behavioral health specialist, and a peer navigator with lived experience.
Comprehensive care beyond weight loss
Weight loss can be transformative to health. Significant weight loss can also introduce a new set of needs, from protecting lean muscle and bone health, to maintaining adequate nutrition, to navigating changes associated with body image and emotional wellbeing. Long-term maintenance requires members to develop sustainable eating patterns and prepare for continued treatment or a carefully supported transition from medication.
Ilant addresses these needs as interconnected parts of obesity and cardiometabolic care. By utilizing an integrated model, Ilant has delivered meaningful improvements across several bio-psycho-social domains. In addition to weight loss and biometric improvement, Ilant members see significant physical health improvement and enhanced body composition, with a nearly one point increase in percentage muscle mass. Further, members show a 25% improvement in wellbeing measures, including reduced loneliness, and gain an average of six mentally healthy days each month, reflecting the program’s substantial impact on their day-to-day quality of life.
"Improving metabolic health requires more than just a prescription for weight loss," said Kara Mayes, Chief Medical Officer at Ilant Health. "People need a variety of support across the treatment journey. Kasey and Christina bring the depth of expertise required to address those needs from the start and help us scale comprehensive care that extends far beyond a prescription or a number on the scale – and support better health and wellbeing over the long-term."
Behavioral health support for lasting change
In Ilant’s integrated model, behavioral health support helps members navigate their relationship with food, emotional wellbeing, body image and the psychological adjustment to significant weight loss. Drawing on a decade of experience at Cleveland Clinic’s Bariatric and Metabolic Institute, Kasey Goodpaster will deepen this support as Ilant serves larger and more varied member populations.
“We find that most members already have a good idea of ‘what’ to do in terms of lifestyle changes by the time they enter our program,” said Goodpaster. “The behavioral health piece is more about the 'how.’ We help members break old habits and form new ones, address any emotions related to eating, boost motivation and confidence, and navigate the many psychosocial changes that often accompany weight loss."
Nutrition care throughout the member journey
Nutrition is another integral part of comprehensive care, supporting nutritional adequacy, cardiometabolic health, preservation of muscle and bone, and the development of sustainable behaviors that extend beyond active treatment. As newly appointed Director of Nutrition, Christina Link brings extensive experience in clinical nutrition, cardiometabolic research, behavior change, and virtual care. She will lead the continued advancement of Ilant’s nutrition services, integrating personalized, evidence-based nutrition care throughout the member journey.
“The most effective care goes beyond achieving weight loss or biometric improvement. It equips people with the tools and support to achieve better outcomes” said Link. “What excites me most about Ilant’s model is that nutrition is truly integrated throughout the member journey. Our model allows dietitians to build meaningful, ongoing relationships with members, stay closely connected as their needs evolve, and continually personalize care to support meaningful goals and sustainable changes that promote long-term health.”
Goodpaster and Link will also help Ilant combine direct clinical care with technology-enabled and asynchronous support as the company grows. Since raising a $15 million Series A in June 2026, Ilant has continued investing in the clinical expertise, technology and engagement options needed to extend its value-based Center of Excellence to larger and more varied member populations.
